Data Governance – Senior Data Quality Remediation Specialist

Business Overview:

In accordance with the Dodd-Frank Act, the bank is required to establish an Intermediate Holding Company (“IHC”) over its US subsidiaries. The IHC will be subject to risk-based capital and leverage standards, regulatory reporting, enhanced governance requirements, liquidity risk management, and other requirements.

The bank's IHC Program has been established with the following five core work streams:

Legal Entity Structure and Tax: Legal setup of the IHC
Risk Governance, Reporting and Single Counterparty Credit Limits: Establish the governance, process and technology platforms for producing the enhanced risk reporting
CCAR: Establish the governance, process and technology platforms for producing the annual IHC capital plan, performing and reporting on capital stress tests and complying with monthly and quarterly regulatory reporting
Funding and Liquidity Management: Establish the governance, process and technology platforms for producing cash flow projections, performing and reporting liquidity stress testing and managing liquidity buffers
Financial / Regulatory Reporting: Establish the governance, process and technology platforms for producing IHC financial and management reporting, including the implementation of US GAAP basis statutory regulatory and consolidation processes for financial reporting

In addition a number of supporting transversal workstreams are instrumental to the delivery of the program: Information Technology, Enterprise Data Management, Human Resources and the Regulatory Analysis workstreams.

Department Overview:

Data Quality and remediation's team is part of the overall Enterprise Data Management team which looks to satisfy the requirements related to ensuring that data used for reporting is of high quality aligned with Basel principles for effective risk data aggregation and risk reporting, and is intended to support evolving regulatory requirements referring to data quality.

Responsibilities:

This role will report to Data Quality Analysis and Solutions Lead and will have a direct impact on how the bank enhances its quality framework ensuring it deploys most effectively its resources to remediate data quality issues across reporting requirements. The role will specialize in securities referential data domain initially and may expand in scope as the applicant grows into the role.

• Perform quality root cause analysis for security referential data elements by performing profiling, Data Quality (“DQ”) rule output analysis and investigations of issues along the data flow from source to reporting
• Partner with data domain owners to perform root cause analysis and assist in solution design for remediation of data issues that will support the goal of ensuring total quality of the data used for reporting purposes
• Contribute to the requirements for data quality metrics, dashboards and co-ordinate with IT in development, performing and validating user acceptance tests (UAT's) as appropriate
• Follow the Data Quality assessment framework, processes, policies and procedures
• Provide SME knowledge to the team with respect to their data domains on DQ issues
• Interact with senior business leaders in their data domains and across workstreams to manage the Data Quality issues
• Continually drive improvements to the existing operations processes, reporting and delivery methods through effective usage of data quality processes and framework
• Provide guidance and share expertise with the project teams’ members and sponsors
• Coordinate with offshore team on data profiling, data quality assessments, key quality indicators and data quality dashboards
• Work extensively with Issue Management and Remediation team for remediation efforts around the identified data quality issues
• Produce and distribute daily/weekly team Status reports and contribute to project status reporting depending on the undertaking at hand
• Develop and maintain knowledge on the BCBS239 guidance

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree required
• 7 – 9 years’ experience in Securities referential data / Business Analysis in a financial institution
• 1 - 2 years’ experience in Securities referential Data Quality within a Bank / Financial institution
• Self-directed individual with the ability to work autonomously
• Solid knowledge of financial industry and related products
• Proficient in MS Office applications; MS Project, MS Visio, MS Power Point, MS Excel
• Clearly conveys information and ideas while listening and responding appropriately to all stakeholders
• Sense of curiosity, enthusiasm and eagerness to understand business constraints, environment and impact on regulation for the financial industry
• Good organizational skills, with the ability to handle complex projects in a multi-tasking environment and meet deadlines while delivering high quality results
• Ability to work under pressure, manage variable workload and creatively address various topics
• Prior direct managerial responsibility for a group of individuals with multi-disciplinary backgrounds
• Develops open, considerate, effective and productive working relationships with customers, external contacts and individuals within CIB/IS perimeter
• Draws information from the market and applies broad knowledge base to make timely and logical decision that provides practical solutions for customers and others
